There are 220 buildings within the palace boundaries, home to about 3000 people.I heartily recommend a visit to Diocletian's Palace, even if not for the Game of Thrones aficionado in you but for the lesson in Croatian history and the unique story of the people of Dalmatia. Even though I was obsessed by GoT, I got to learn more about the history than I anticipated and I thoroughly enjoyed it.As I learned in an earlier walking tour, in Roman times there was a room in palaces called the vomitorium- That's right, an entire room devoted to throwing up, just so you could go back and eat some more.
